David Ryder/Bloomberg via Jul 30, 2023 路 In total, Boeing built 167 747-100 aircraft, which were primarily used by major airlines around the world for intercontinental flights. The Boeing 747-200, an upgraded version of the -100, entered service in 1971. It featured more powerful engines, increased fuel capacity, and improved range. Nov 15, 2019 路 The design of the 747-400D was still flexible enough that the aircraft could have been easily converted into a long-range variant. This is one of the reasons why airlines bought the design in the first place. It is rather fascinating that airlines saw a need for a short-haul high dense aircraft. If this had been popular, likely we would have Jun 26, 2022 路 Conviasa. Over in South America, Venezuela鈥檚 Conviasa apparently has four active A340s: O ne -200, one -300, and two -600s. Bucking the trend of A340 retirements, Conviasa received its A340-600 in late March. Registered YV3533, this jet is the first of three it will get in 2022. Sep 16, 2020 路 Most of the oldest planes you can still fly on as a passenger will have been built in the 1970s, though with the situation as it is lately there鈥檚 no telling how many of these will remain active once flying picks back up again. One particularly appealing and ancient plane is this 747-200 flying for Saha Airlines in Iran, which is now 42 years Jan 31, 2023 路 IBA Insight reveals that the oldest of these is a Boeing 747-200 E4B SN 20682, operated by the United States Air Force (USAF). The quadjets had been grounded for a while, and COVID-19 squashed any chances of the fuel-guzzling Jul 23, 2022 路 Delta operated 16 747-400s in all, obviously all inherited from Northwest. Delta obtained large numbers of aircraft from the merger, notably A330-200/300 and DC-9-30/40/50 units, but it was the 744 that was the most iconic. From April 2009, six months after the merger was approved, the 744 began to be operated by Northwest for Delta. Oct 28, 2020 路 This killed profits as airlines still had to pay two lots of fuel and airport fees. People were flying the routes, in some cases, quite a lot, but the routes weren鈥檛 profitable. As such, airlines demanded an aircraft that could carry as many people as the 747, but with a much longer range. Development CCC0Y8.
